In 2024, the Nigeria Police Force’s cybercrime unit achieved a monumental feat, recovering N8,821,001,881.80 (over eight billion Naira) from cybercrime activities.

The recovered funds, alongside 115,237.91 USDT and $84,000, have been returned to victims of fraudulent schemes, reinforcing the Nigeria Police’s mission to protect citizens from digital threats.

These efforts are a direct response to the growing wave of cybercrime and fraud in the nation.

751 arrests and strategic operations against cybercriminals

As part of its proactive measures, the Nigeria Police Force arrested and prosecuted 751 individuals tied to cybercrime activities in 2024.

In total, the NPF-NCCC successfully seized 685 devices, including mobile phones, laptops, and routers, all used in the execution of illegal activities.

The law enforcement authorities also confiscated numerous properties, including houses, land, and vehicles, effectively dismantling the criminal network.

In a statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the NPF-NCCC operatives have arrested four suspects—Douglass Victor, Egbo Efe Martins, Lucky Adesunloye, and Ndifreke Joseph Moody—for involvement in various cybercrimes.

The NPF-NCCC’s dedication was further recognized with the award for the Best Cybercrime Unit in Africa by INTERPOL, a prestigious recognition that shows their unparalleled success.
