Rivers’ Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Evans Bapakaye Bipi, has raised alarm over the increasing disregard for laws prohibiting street trading, unauthorised markets, and illegal motor parks.

These unauthorized street actions, especially in Port Harcourt, Obio/Akpor, Ikwerre, Eleme, and Oyigbo LGAs, have not only obstructed roads but also threatened public safety.

The commissioner pointed out that these disruptions undermine the Governor’s Urban Renewal Policy, designed to restore the state to its ‘Garden City’ status.
