Rivers state Governor – Nyesom Wike paid a visit to the Oba of Benin in Benin-City on Thursday to solicit support and royal blessing for his presidential bid in 2023.
Governor Wike stated that if given the chance, he has the necessary experience to combat insecurity in Nigeria.
He stated that working closely with security services will alleviate security issues, which he believes are at the root of the country’s economic troubles.
Governor Wike informed the Oba that he is one Nigerian who cannot sit back and watch his country deteriorate without doing something.
“I believe that by the grace of God, if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gives me the mandate to fly the flag of the party, I think I have the experience to help this country to be better than what it is today giving my experience as a former Chairman of Local Government, as Minister of State and Supervising Minister of Education and now Governor,” Wike said.
The Oba of Benin Kingdom, Omo N’Oba Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, expressed his happiness that Governor Wike has showed his interest in seeking royal approval.
Governor Wike’s ongoing infrastructural development in Rivers state, according to the renowned king, clearly distinguishes him.
“This journey that you have embarked on, we are comfortable with you. You know already that I have personal love for you.”
