Property owners in Rivers State who are impacted by current development have accused the State Government of underpaying them for their buildings.
In a recent conversation with journalists, the property owners vowed to stage a demonstration in response to the problem.
They claimed that the government gave them paltry compensation for their properties.
The Rivers State Government, however, has denied underpaying landowners impacted by the current development.
Alabo George Kelly, Rivers State commissioner of Works, released a statement after some property owners complained that their compensation was inadequate.
The commissioner urged the property owners in the Illabouchi, Rumuokwuta, Rumuola, and Mgbuoba axis of Port Harcourt to temporarily halt the planned protest and demonstrate understanding in a statement on Monday.
Meanwhile, Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike in a statement claimed that more than four billion naira had been used for compensation.
