The Federal Government has designated Friday, April 21, and Monday, April 24, 2023 as public holidays in honor of this year’s Eid el-Fitr celebrations.
The declaration was made by the interior minister, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, in a statement issued by the permanent secretary, Dr. M.L. Shuaib Belgor, on Wednesday.
The minister commended all Muslims for observing the holy month of Ramadan successfully in his message.
He exhorted people to follow the example of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who upheld the virtues of kindness, love, tolerance, peace, self-denial, sacrifice, and good neighborliness.
In order to become better persons and sincere worshippers, he advised Muslims to uphold and enhance the self-control, self-denial, sacrifice, and profound spiritual consciousness that were associated with the fasting time.
