Sule Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa State, has stated that Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, cannot decide how people will vote in the general election of 2023 all by himself.
These remark was made by Lamido on Tuesday during an interview on “Politics Today,” a political program on Channels TV that Hitvibz observed.
He was commenting on the confrontation between Mr. Wike and Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate.
Wike, according to the former governor, is acting like an emperor, and he should keep in mind that the state is a stronghold for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“Wike is an individual and has one vote. Rivers people are PDP. Wike has the right to say or do whatever he like. He is the emperor. Rivers people are going to vote PDP in 2023.’’
Out of the 13 candidates running for governor in Rivers State, Lamido claimed Wike imposed one on them while the others did not voice their displeasure. He acknowledged that the governor has no authority over how Rivers people will vote.
The former governor questioned Wike’s anger toward PDP presidential candidate Abubakar Atiku in light of the fact that it was the national convention that had upset the Rivers state governor.
After his tenure in office as Rivers State governor expires in May of next year, according to Lamido, Nyesom Wike will quickly turn into a liability.
Lamido’s statement comes after news broke that governor Wike and several of his associates had met with Bola Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate.
Recall that Atiku, the current presidential candidate of People’s Democratic Party, defeated governor Wike and others during the PDP primary election.
Mr. Wike, who was upset about his loss in the primary, claimed that the outcome of the contest was affected by the governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, who abruptly withdrew from the race at the convention on May 28 in Abuja.
