Hundreds of women marched to the Rivers State House of Assembly on Tuesday to protest the National Assembly’s dismissal of Gender Bills.
Susan Serekara-Nwikhana, Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ, said during the protest that they want the National Assembly to reconsider the bills and rescind its decision.
Ikuinyi Owaji Igbani, the speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, responded by assuring the protesting women that the Gender Bills are supported by members of the State Assembly.
Hitvibz gathered that the women marched from Isaac Boro Park to other significant places of the city.
