Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike has officially indicated his interest to run for the office of the President of Nigeria.
Governor Wike declared that he has the ability to depose the current All Progressives Congress in 2023.
Wike claimed that he can secure the top spot on the Peoples Democratic Party’s programme (PDP).
The governor made the statement at the Government House in Makurdi during a consultative meeting with stakeholders from the PDP’s Benue chapter on Sunday.
He also appealed to Benue PDP members to vote for him at the party’s next national delegates conference.
“To remove APC from power, I’m the person who can tell them enough is enough. We must take this power and I’m ready to take it for PDP. God is with us that’s why APC keeps failing every day. I’m declaring it (presidential ambition) for the first time in Benue. I’m going to run for election,” Wike said.
Recall that on Monday, Wike tasked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to treat the South-South geopolitical zone with fairness, justice and equity.
The governor, during the meeting of PDP stakeholders in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State noted that having consistently voted for the PDP since 1999, the party cannot at this crucial moment ignore the South-South’s constructions to its success.
Six days later, the governor is coming out plain to formally inform Nigerians that he wants to be their next President.
The River state governor also made this known on his official Facebook page on Sunday night.
He said;
“I will be running for office of the President of the federal republic of Nigeria.”
