The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has launched an inquiry into the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital’s (UPTH) use of the N950 million Covid-19 intervention fund, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to an ICPC spokesman, Azuka Ogugua, the commission has collected documents from the Federal Ministry of Health, Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, and UPTH that will help it investigate how the fund was used by the health institutions.

Recall that last week, Clem Agba, the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, paid an unplanned visit to UPTH and expressed disappointment with the state of the institution’s isolation center.

The Minister vowed to investigate the hospital, but Henry Ugboma, the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, denied misappropriating the 950 million Covid-19 intervention grant.
