Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has stated that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is strong, resolute in its desire to provide better administration, and willing to assume power in 2023 to transform Nigeria’s fortunes.

The governor made the statement at a special reception at Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday to formally welcome former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche, into the PDP fold.

Governor Wike stated that as a PDP-controlled state government, his administration has touched every aspect of Rivers State and provided the people with the greatest good governance the state has to offer.

According to him, the PDP has continued to remain a household name and the most trusted to run the country because of what it has continued to accomplish in terms of responding to the concerns of Nigerians.

“You’re welcome (Nwuche) to where God belongs to. The property that God owns. This property called PDP is being owned by God and that is why it is the only household organisation you can find in this country. No matter whatever that happens, PDP is still very strong, very firm and very willing to change the fortune of this country.”

Governor Wike characterized Chibudom Nwuche as a “reputable” democrat who can offer value to the PDP without becoming a liability.

PDP woos those who can contribute to the party, work for the welfare of its members, and speak up for their people, according to Governor Wike.

As a result, he advised members of the party to forget about their fears of being displaced by Nwuche in the party’s hierarchy.

Governor Wike stressed that more people should join the party because there is enough room for everyone and no one will be denied what is owed to them.

“Today is another wonderful day in our political history like one of those who has made democracy to be strong, those who contributed to what democracy is supposed to be,” Wike said.

The Governor added;

“Let every understand that here we are not in contention with anybody. We don’t have the complexity to begin to say that people should not come back. People should not say that because Chibudom has come back what I’m supposed to get, I will not get. He has come to add to our number. The more the merrier.”
