The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC in Rivers State, under the leadership of Comrade Alex Agwanwor, has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Siminalayi Fubara on his resounding victory as the newly elected governor of the State.
In a show of solidarity, the NLC Chairman led a delegation to Government House Port Harcourt on Tuesday, affirming the union’s steady support for Fubara’s administration.
Comrade Alex Agwanwor expressed great pride in the election of Fubara, a highly regarded technocrat and career Civil Servant, as the Governor of Rivers State.
Recognizing the immense responsibility that comes with the role, Agwanwor urged Governor Fubara to establish a sustainable platform for constructive dialogue between labor and the government.
Such discussions, he emphasized, would serve to foster improved industrial harmony within the state.
Highlighting Governor Fubara’s firsthand experience with the challenges facing the public service, Agwanwor called for regular interactions between the government and labor.
By maintaining an ongoing interface, he believed that both parties could work together to promote industrial harmony and drive the development of Rivers State.
“The Rivers State Governor is conversant with challenges of the public service, we want to appeal, that a regular interface be sustained between government and labour to foster industrial harmony and development in Rivers State,” he said.
In response, Governor Fubara assured the NLC of his commitment to collaboration in advancing the state’s interests.
He pledged to carefully consider the request for rehabilitating the Union’s office, demonstrating his willingness to address the needs of organized labor in Rivers State.
