Rivers State PDP Chairman, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, has commended the state governor Nyesom Wike over construction of Oyigbo road.Rivers State PDP Chairman

This happened after Wike signed a contract for the construction of the Oyigbo-Okoloma Road in Oyigbo Local Government Area, as well as the Chokocho-Igbodo Road in Etche Local Government Area of the state.

Politics, according to the PDP Chairman, is all about service, and it all comes down to what you can draw to your people and how much of a positive impact you can have on them.

Governor Wike has guaranteed that the plight of Oyigbo people has been alleviated since taking office as the state PDP Chairman, according to Mr Desmond, by carrying out a number of key projects in the LGA, in addition to those he carried out during his first tenure.

Today, the contract for the Oyigbo-Okoloma Road has been signed and it is with deep sense of gratitude I write this to express my appreciation to a leader who has consistently given my people a profound sense of belonging in a way that we have never experienced before,” Desmond said.

The Rivers state PDP Chairman added;

I can go home, with my head held high that in his tenure as Governor of Rivers State, he did not disappoint my people and he rewarded my service to him with dividends of democracy to a Local Government Area that was abandoned in the past. Looking back at when I first decided to support his candidature, the words of Dr. Martin Luther King at that critical time, was a guide, which read thus: “There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must take it because conscience tells him it is right.”

Desmond Akawor stated that by backing Wike, who stepped in to salvage the PDP, he knew he was making the correct move, and that the people of Asa and Ndoki are thankful to him for opening their area up for seamless business.

Your Excellency, you have proven yourself relentlessly to be a detribalised leader and the Asa and Ndoki people are grateful to you, for opening our area up for seamless business, which will have a lasting positive effect on our standard of living as a people,” he said.

Thank you for making a difference in our lives and for wiping our tears away when it mattered,” he added.
