Rivers State House of Assembly have passed into law the Rivers State Prohibition of the curtailment of the rights of women to share in family property bill 2022.
Michael Chindah, the member representing Obio-Akpor constituency 2, sponsored the bill.
Sokolo Solomon, the member representing Abua-Odual, said during the bill’s debate that the community clause in the bill should be specified so that women understand what to inherit in family property.
In his ruling, House Speaker Ikuinyi Ibani stated that the bill had huge societal benefits.
The Compulsory Treatment and Care for Gunshot Victims Bill 2022 was also signed into law.
