Because the federal government has recognized the two days as public holidays in honor of Easter..
On Tuesday, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Shuaibu Balgore, signed a statement on behalf of the Minister, Rauf Aregbesola.
The minister challenged Christians to follow Jesus Christ’s example of compassion, kindness, and peace.
Ogbeni Aregbesola also urged Christians and other Nigerians to make use of the opportunity to pray for an end to the country’s insecurity.
He also urged Nigerians to rally behind President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts to achieve long-term development and prosperity for all.
The day Jesus Christ was crucified is commemorated on Good Friday, and the day he was resurrected is commemorated on Easter Monday.
