Due to inadequate building care, the Rivers State government under Governor Nyesom Wike’s administration has formally taken control of yet another property in the state.Governor Wike's administration takes over another property

Governor Wike said the land was acquired under the public policy since the Nigerian Railway Corporation declined to maintain structures on the area.

The Rivers state governor stated this on Wednesday when he officially kicked off the construction of a new Federal High Court Complex on the site.

The governor added that the Federal Judicial Institute’s South-South liaison office would be built on the property by the state government.

The governor further announced that the nearby building, which is also owned by Nigerian Railways Corporation and was just painted rather than reconstructed, will be taken over.

Governor Wike defended the emphasis on the judiciary by his administration.

Hitvibz understands that the three-story structure will have eight courtrooms, eight judge’s offices, a hall with a seating capacity of 500 people, two conference rooms, and four elevators.

In order to allow Rivers State to construct more buildings for the State High Court, Governor Wike presented a proposal to the federal government, requesting it to take into account giving up the location of the current Federal High Court.

Governor Wike stated that in return, the Rivers State government will construct homes that are suitable for justices of the Federal High Court.

These homes will be located in the Old GRA in Port Harcourt, and they will no longer be required to pay rent.
