Gunmen kidnap Chief, demand N2 million ransom at Luawii Community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers state.
The titled chief was abducted less than 48 hours after 57 repentant cultists in Betem Community also in the LGA signed an oath to forsake crime and embrace peace.
The event occurred on Monday, according to a source.
Hitvibz has learned that the community has begun talks with the kidnappers, who are reportedly demanding N2 million in exchange for the release of the abducted chief.
The community has been thrown into sorrow, with women praying for his release because of his kind attitude and philanthropic endeavors, according to a community youth leader who requested anonymity.
He expressed concern that as a result of the incident, many Indigenes in the area will be hesitant to come home for the holidays.
The abducted chief had gone home last weekend to spend time with relatives after a long absence when the incident occurred, Hitvibz gathered.
