Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that he will ensure that his successor is someone who will defend the interest of Rivers people.

Governor Wike said this on Monday night, at a birthday party hosted by his wife, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, at his private property in Rumuepirikom, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers state.

The governor revealed that he had asked Rivers state elders and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to begin the hunt for a successor with the capacity and enthusiasm to protect the state’s interests.

“I have dedicated this my birthday to make sure that whoever that is going to succeed me will be for the interest of Rivers people, will be for the interest of the development of Nigeria,” Wike said.

Governor Wike thanked God for blessing him with a fruitful and interesting life after recounting how he was tricked into attending the birthday celebration organized by his wife at his sports facility.

He thanked the Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the wife of the governor of Oyo State, Mrs. Tamunominni Makinde, and other dignitaries for attending the event.

The governor advised people to keep praying for God’s grace to abound on all sides for him and his family.

Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, the governor of Rivers State’s wife, praised God for his unwavering love for Governor Wike.

Justice Nyesom-Wike, who lavished praise on her husband, prayed to God to provide him both his heart’s wishes and a long and fruitful life.

Earlier, Austin Okocha, Taribo George, Kanu Nwankwo, Joseph Yobo, Daniel Amokachi, Augustine Eguavoen, Victor Ikpeba, Tijani Babangida, Samson Siasia, and other ex-Nigerian international footballers competed in a novelty football match.
