Okon Effiong, the commissioner of police for Rivers state, has responded to claims that he supported Governor Nyesom Wike during the just completed 2023 general elections.
There have been allegations made by rival parties, particularly the All Progressives Congress, that the CP helped the PDP win.
The police chief has also been accused by the party of failing to provide proper security for opposition parties and of detaining alleged rivals of the governor on fabricated charges.
The Police commissioner, on the other hand, refuted working for the governor and the People’s Democratic Party in a statement over the weekend.
He said that he carried out his duties impartially and gave everyone involved proper security.
He added that the command would keep performing its duty in a professional manner without regard for reward.
