A suspected child trafficker and kidnapper has been apprehended by vigilant officers of the Rivers State Police Command in Obio/Akpor local government area of the state.Rivers: Police Arrest Suspected Child Trafficker, Kidnapper in Obio Akpor

The arrest came as a result of an investigation prompted by a distress call from a local vigilante group through the Counter Terrorism unit.

On May 27th, 2023, a building near Akas Estate in Rumuekini Community, Obio/Akpor LGA, Rivers State, was discovered.

The state police arrested a woman named Akudo Ozoroh, 39 years old, who was allegedly operating a center for child trafficking.

As a result of the operation, six girls were recently rescued. During the interrogation, Akudo Ozoroh confessed to the crimes and provided valuable information to the police.

She revealed that the girls had been enticed by Akudo Ifeanyi, who promised to take care of them until they gave birth.

Furthermore, Akudo Ozoroh disclosed that the babies were sold for prices ranging from three hundred to four hundred thousand, depending on the stage of the pregnancy.

Additionally, mothers of the babies were given a payment ranging from 150,000 to 200,000, depending on the gender of the baby.

The suspect admitted to being involved in the illicit business for a significant period but couldn’t provide specific details regarding the number of children she had sold.

The main suspect, Akudo Ozoroh, and one of the buyers, a woman named Pastor Mary Ade, are currently in police custody.

The Rivers State police have emphasized that the investigation is actively underway to apprehend any other individuals connected to the crime.
