Police raze criminal hideouts in Eleme area of Rivers state, nab two suspect.
On Tuesday, the Rivers State Police Command, in collaboration with the Eleme and Alesa Youth Councils, stormed and burned camps and hideouts in the bushes along Trailer Park/Onne, which were reported to belong to suspected criminals operating in the Eleme Local Government Area.
During the raid, two suspects were reportedly apprehended.
The Eleme Youth Council Coordinator, Prince Nsao Okereke, said the action was in response to the LGA chairman’s promise to the people of Eleme, Chief Hon. Obarilomate Ollor, that he would ensure a crime-free festive season.
Hon. Ollor also stated that the chairman has declared a full-scale crackdown on all criminal hideouts in Eleme and has directed them to do so on a regular basis.
The raid, according to a high-ranking police officer who requested anonymity, is a preventive measure that will serve as a deterrent to other criminals who might want to carry out their heinous deeds.
