Rifkatu Kuraga, 35, was apprehended by the Nasarawa State Police Command while attempting to sell the 3-year-old child to a prophetess.
The suspect was nabbed on November 25, in Imo State, after a report was submitted at Garaku Divisional Police Headquarters, Kokona LGA of the state, according to the command’s spokesperson, ASP Ramhan Nansel, in a statement on Wednesday, December 1.
“On November 25, 2021, about 2000 hours, a report was filed at Garaku Divisional Police Headquarters, Kokona LGA, Nasarawa State, regarding a missing three-year-old boy, and all efforts to establish his whereabouts were futile,” he said.
Police officers were dispatched to the scene of the complaints.
The troops from Garaku Division sprung into action right away, acted and apprehended the culprit as well as the child who had gone missing.
The child, who was three years old at the time, was rescued and reunited with his parents and family.
According to preliminary investigation, the suspect abducted the boy on November 23, 2021, and transported him to Imo State to sell him to a prophetess before the police caught wind of her heinous deed and pursued and arrested her.
The suspect has admitted to the crime, and efforts to apprehend the prophetess, who is still at large, are underway.”
