Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has guaranteed Nigerians that their vote will surely count in the 2023 elections.INEC Chairman assure Nigerians that their vote will count in 2023 Election

The INEC Chairman announced this on Saturday while speaking to the massive crowd of youths who had gathered in Lagos for the current YouthVoteCount2.

Prof. Mahmood Yakubu stated that the Commission will do everything possible to ensure that all qualified Nigerians who wish to register as voters during the current Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) operation do so.

We have heard your requests loud & clear. You will soon hear from us on extension of CVR registration. Please assure me that you will register, pick your PVCs and Vote. I also assure you that your vote will count.” – Prof. Mahmood Yakubu said.

The INEC Chairman also dispelled the rumor that the Commission was intentionally blocking registrants from a specific region of the country from participating in the present exercise.

Prof. Yakubu stated that the INEC would monitor the results of the measures put in place to relieve the pressure over the next week and take further steps depending on the findings.

Prof. Yakubu also disputed a rumor that the PVCs were about to expire. He stated that the PVCs do not have an expiration date.

Concerns that elections could be rigged have been aired in some places, and the INEC Chairman has stated that the Commission will do all possible to defend the sanctity of the ballot box.
