In the wake of devastating flood Rivers State, the state government has pledged massive support for the affected residents.
During a recent event, the Deputy Governor and head of the Flood Prevention and Management Committee, Professor Ngozi Nma Odu, delivered relief supplies to the Internally Displaced Persons Camp in Akinima, Hitvibz reports.

Professor Odu emphasized that this initiative reflects the strong leadership present in Rivers State.
He articulated the government’s commitment to providing essential aid, stating,
“What we are doing is to show care, the Bible says we should rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn, though you are not mourning, but just to show empathy.”
The Flood Management Committee’s approach involves a three-phase strategy.
The first phase focused on awareness campaigns in Ahoada East, followed by immediate relief efforts in response to the current flooding.
The final phase will address post-flood recovery, ensuring continuous support for affected residents even after the waters recede.
During the presentation of relief materials, Professor Odu acknowledged the community’s concerns and expressed optimism about future actions.
He highlighted that the supplies—ranging from staple foods like rice and beans to essential medical provisions—would be distributed fairly among all those impacted, regardless of their background.
