Obio Akpor Local Government Area (LGA) in Rivers State, Nigeria, is gearing up for a new chapter with a strong message from Chairman Chijioke Ihunwo to his political appointees.
During the swearing-in ceremony of principal officers and aides, Ihunwo emphasised service delivery, loyalty, and a commitment to development, Hitvibz reports.
Chairman Ihunwo reminded appointees that their positions are not solely based on qualifications but on an opportunity to serve.
He urged them to prioritise the local government’s well-being and collaborate effectively as a team.
“Let’s work together, putting our local government first in all our actions,” he stressed.
While lamenting the importance of unity, Ihunwo emphasised their loyalty to Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s vision.
He encouraged the appointees to develop innovative solutions for the LGA’s growth, emphasising that their compensation should be justified through tangible achievements.
The chairman’s message also included a warning. He stated that underperformance and distractions would not be tolerated.
Aides who are unprepared for the challenges ahead were advised to step down.
Adding his voice to the chairman’s message, Rivers State Commissioner for Power, Prince Solomon Abel Eke, highlighted the immense task of rebuilding Obio Akpor.
He stressed the need for their collective effort, urging appointees to become exemplary ambassadors for the LGA.
