To address this issue, the Security Council plans to collaborate with key stakeholders, including the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Hitvibz reports.

Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo, Chairman of the Obio Akpor Local Government Area Caretaker Committee, expressed deep concern over the increasing criminal activities in the region during a recent press briefing.

A significant decision from the security meeting was the closure of the motor park adjacent to the council secretariat in Rumuodomanya.

This measure aims to drive out criminal elements and enhance public safety.

Ambassador Ihunwo assured residents and businesses of his commitment to making the local government area secure and livable.

The council is acutely aware of the “one chance” crimes, where criminals deceive passengers, rob them, and abandon them.

To tackle this, a meeting with the NURTW leadership in Rivers State and Obio Akpor was convened to devise strategies for identifying and apprehending these criminals.

The meeting saw participation from heads of various security agencies, including the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and Civil Defence.
