A white delivery vehicle was purportedly trailed by officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency LASTMA when it rammed into school children heading home from school, killing seventeen.
The tragedy struck on Tuesday afternoon at Grammar School Bus Stop, Along Ogba-ojodu Berger Road Lagos.
The school children, who were Grammar school students, were walking home from school when the truck driver, who was attempting to flee the authorities, slammed into them.
According to an eyewitness, the truck driver fled the scene of the accident but was apprehended near the Excellence hotel in Ogba, where he was set ablaze by enraged passengers.
An eyewitness, a student who was present at the time of the tragedy, claims that;
“The sight is something else, the kids were crushed, the accident happened immediately the school opened their school gate after the close of school. I am not sure about the number, as at when I left they said 17 children were confirmed dead.”
