In the lead-up to the 2023 general election, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has come up to claim that he is not one of those politicians that run around for personal interest.

Governor Wike made the statement during the official opening of some important road improvements in the Port Harcourt Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.

Recall that the Rivers state governor had previously urged his supporters to follow the directives he had given them through their local political figures.

In recordings that went viral on social media, many of them were seen following Wike’s advice over which presidential candidate to support.

Meanwhile, Governor Wike has emphasized that Rivers State had provided him with abundant opportunity to achieve a great deal in both his personal and professional lives.

The governor declared that he owed the State a sense of gratitude for such kindness and that he would live his entire life defending its interests.

He emphasized that nothing, including a bowl of pottage, would cause him to sell the State for anything, unlike others who solely want personal gain.

“I am not going to deceive you. I am not one of those leaders who are running around for their personal interest. For what Rivers people has given me, I owed them a lot in my life and I will continue to protect their interest.” – Wike said.
