120 oil thieves have been arrested and detained by the Port Harcourt Zonal Command of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on suspicion of illegal oil bunkering.
According to EFCC spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren, the suspected oil thieves were apprehended on Saturday in a collaborative mission carried out by EFCC personnel and the 6 Division Garrison, Nigerian Army Port Harcourt.
Wilson Uwujaren revealed that they acted right away after receiving intelligence reports on the alleged oil thieves’ operations.
He said they were suspected to have illegally refined stolen petroleum products and off-loaded into vehicles at the waterfronts for distribution within and outside Rivers State.
Hitvibz gathered that the suspects were reportedly detained at Ndoni in Rivers State, where it is believed that illegally refined petroleum products are off-loaded into vehicles for distribution.
The EFCC reported that major items recovered from the suspects were eight vehicles and pumping machines.
The statement made it clear that the suspects will face court charges as soon as the inquiry was over.
