Governor Wike stated this during the Commissioning of the Garden City Mall in Port Harcourt on Thursday 15th December, 2022.

Wike, who stated that Rivers State is the safest area in Nigeria to live and conduct business, urged employers of labor to not be hesitant to hire Rivers people, claiming that they are dependable and will work hard.

Governor Wike was represented by his deputy, Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo, who stated that his administration has implemented programs and policies to promote the ease of doing business in the state. He also stated that the government will continue to promote more investment into the state under his leadership.

Governor Wike, who expressed his joy at the Garden City Mall’s arrival, pleaded with them to hire young people from both the host town and other communities throughout the State.

I can tell you that our youths are very industrious and very hardworking, they are creative and innovative, anywhere you put them, they will work and satisfy the vision. Do not be afraid to employ our people, they are reliable and they will work hard, especially the Rumuomasi youths, this will help us to engage more investments in Rivers State, because we need to increase our Internally Generated Revenue, so that we can do more infrastructure, develop our people and their capacity, so they can fend for themselves and even employ other people too“. Governor Wike further stressed.

The Garden City Mall’s managing director, Mr. Sunny Chawla, described it as an international level shopping complex in the center of the oil-rich city of Port Harcourt, where it is also home to the city’s first and only Shoprite.

He claimed that the Garden City Mall’s employment prospects will help to lift more than 1,000 people out of the unemployment net by bringing work opportunities to Port Harcourt.

He emphasized that this economic success will include both direct and indirect employment, Rumuomasi indigenes who live in the host community as well.
