In a recent statement, Governor Yusuf detailed the strategic investments designed to uplift the state’s infrastructure and support local farmers, Hitvibz reports.

Massive Investment in Education

Governor Yusuf revealed the release of 1.9 billion naira for the renovation of classrooms across Kano’s 44 local government areas.

The funds will be managed by the Community Reorientation Committee under the supervision of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

We are pleased to announce the release of 1,903,315,617.07 Naira for the renovation of classrooms across the state. This initiative, supervised by SUBEB, aims to improve the learning environment for our students,” stated Yusuf.

The Kano governor has also approved nearly 3 billion Naira for constructing new classrooms, marking the first phase of a broader initiative to enhance educational infrastructure.

I have also approved the sum of 2,925,140,591.60 Naira for the construction of new classrooms across the state. This is phase one of our drive to build new and befitting classrooms for learning across Kano State,” Yusuf added.

These financial commitments are part of the state’s declaration of a state of emergency on education.

Supporting Smallholder Farmers

Meanwhile, Governor Yusuf has also recognised the vital role of agriculture in Kano’s economy, as he has approved the purchase of fertiliser worth over 5 billion Naira to support smallholder farmers.

“I have approved the purchase of fertiliser worth 5.07 billion Naira to support smallholder farmers in Kano State. This move aims to facilitate food sufficiency through massive agricultural transformation in our state,” Yusuf announced.

The fertiliser will be distributed at a subsidised rate across all 44 local government areas, targeting rural farmers to help boost crop yields during the 2024 rainy season.

These measures are part of Governor Yusuf’s broader strategy to drive economic growth and improve living standards for Kano residents.
