Members of the Vice Presidential Screening Committee were recommended by the PDP National Working Committee, according to Debo Ologunagba, the party’s spokesman.
Mr. Ologunagba stated that the NWC formed the committee in accordance with the main opposition party’s electoral procedures.
Meanwhile, Tari Oliver, the PDP’s only female presidential candidate, expressed disappointment that women were not shortlisted for the running mate role.
She claimed in an interview that the lack of gender balance is to blame for failures in leadership and service delivery across the country.
The screening will take place on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the PDP National Secretariat’s National Working Committee (NWC) Hall, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
There are reports that the panel voted in favor of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike in a meeting on Tuesday, although, the party it yet to clarify the rumour.
Governors Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State are also being examined for the position.
Idris Wada, Osita Chidoka, Binta Bello, Mutiat Adedoja, Austin Opara, and Aisha Madawaki make up the recently created panel.
Ayotunde George-Ologun, Chidiebelu Mofus, and Fidelis Tapgun are among the others, with Akilu Indabawa serving as Secretary and Sunday Omobo serving as Administrative Secretary.
INEC has informed the party that they have till Friday to choose its vice-presidential candidate and submit to the electoral body.
