In an interview with the media, Apostle Stanley Dimkpa, the state CAN chairman, condemned the incident and also described it as “one too many.”
However, Apostle Dimpka urged the president to declare a security state of emergency.
Apostle Dimpka also urged churches in the state to begin developing their own security architecture in order to protect themselves from external threats.
Meanwhile, a growing number of notable Nigerians and groups, both locally and globally, have begun to speak to the incident, strongly criticizing it.
Yesterday, an explosion occurred the St. Francis Catholic Church on Owa-luwa Street in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State’s capital, followed by intermittent gunshots by gunmen suspected of being terrorists.
Scores of people were killed and many more were injured in the explosion that happened on the church grounds.
To that end, the President, who had heightened security, promised to track down and prosecute all those engaged in the attack, vowing to create an example for the offenders.
