The Rivers State government has made a significant investment in education by procuring and distributing essential science materials to all public senior secondary schools.
This initiative aims to enhance students’ understanding of science subjects through hands-on laboratory experiences, Hitvibz reports.
Boosting Science Education in Rivers State
In a ceremony held at the Rivers State Senior Secondary Schools Board headquarters on Emekukwu Street, D/Line Port Harcourt, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ovy Chinedum Chukwuma, emphasised that these materials are intended exclusively for students’ learning and preparation for external examinations.
Dr. Chukwuma highlighted the state’s commitment to improving science education by providing necessary resources, thereby encouraging teachers to deliver better instruction and helping students grasp practical aspects of their subjects.
“Our goal is to elevate the standard of education in Rivers State, making it a benchmark for other states,” he stated.
Commitment to Quality Education
The Commissioner urged teachers to utilise these resources effectively, assuring them that the ministry would implement a reward system to recognise outstanding educators and ministry staff.
