He empathizes with the difficulties faced by workers and the general public due to subsidy removal.

Representing the governor, Chief of Staff, Hon Chidi Amadi, praised the labor unions for their peaceful demonstration and assured them that their demands would be conveyed to the appropriate authorities.

Governor Fubara stands out as the first governor in the country to provide free buses to alleviate the effects of the subsidy removal.

He urges workers to be patient and supportive of the Rivers State Government’s efforts to address the challenges collectively.

In challenging times, difficult decisions must be made. The governor is committed to using his authority to address the current challenges faced not only by the workers but also by the general public,” Hon Chidi Amadi stated.

Apart from the subsidy intervention buses, the Governor is engaging in discussions with organized labor and other segments of society to devise policies that address the people’s challenges.Your Mandate Will Not Be Taken For Granted - Governor Fubara to Rivers People

The Chairman of the Rivers State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Alex Agwanwor, explained that the protest aimed to highlight the negative impact of subsidy removal on workers and the general public, without sufficient measures to alleviate their suffering.

Comrade Alex Agwanwor applauded the governor’s initiative in providing free subsidy intervention buses and presented a six-point demand, including the immediate implementation of resolutions jointly signed with the government and TUC on these issues, and the reversal of all anti-poor policies, particularly the hike in the price of PMS.
