Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has stated that God will not forgive the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, if it fails to liberate the country, adding that Nigerians have suffered enough in the hands of APC.
The governor maintained that for the PDP to achieve its fundamental goal of rescuing Nigeria from the APC-led administration’s terrible governance, all PDP governors must be unified.
Governor Wike said this on Tuesday paid a courtesy call to Oyo State Governor Seye Makinde at the Government House in Ibadan.
The Rivers State governor added that he was in Oyo to publicly thank Governor Makinde, who was the secretary of the PDP convention planning committee, for producing the best convention in the party’s history, according to Nigerians and the diplomatic community.
He stated that now that the party has a new national leadership, the governors and other party members must remain unified in order to build a strong team to depose the APC from office in 2023.
“It is important for us as a party to unite, because Nigerians are waiting for PDP . We cannot afford to lose this opportunity, and the key for that is that the governors must be united and must support the party. It does not matter who will be the presidential candidate. If the party is united, the governors are united, I can tell you that victory will be ours,” he said.
Governor Wike stated that millions of Nigerians are living in abject poverty as a result of the APC-led federal government’s severe socio-economic policies. In this regard, he stated that Nigerians are anxious for the PDP to emancipate them.
“We must sit down as a party and take the best decision that will make Nigerians to be happy, that will make us to win election. Anything we are doing that will not make us win election, then there is no basis for it because we still want Nigerians to suffer. Nigerians cannot continue to suffer. They have suffered enough in the hands of APC and God will not forgive PDP if we don’t rescue Nigeria,” Wike said.
Governor Wike encouraged individuals who are stirring the flames of division over zoning issues to stay away from the party. According to him, diverse stakeholders will gather at the appropriate moment to choose a presidential candidate who can help the PDP win elections.
The governor asked all party members to be ready to support whoever the party nominates as its presidential candidate for the election in 2023. Nigerians cannot afford to continue to suffer under the APC’s sadistic administration, he said.
