Rivers State police command have arrested and detained one Mercy Enyindah in Elele, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state for allegedly trafficking children.
The arrest of Mrs. Enyindah, according to the Rivers State Police Command’s spokesperson SP Grace Iringe Koko, came after Ms. Precious Friday of the Ubima Community in the Ikwerre LGA reported that her child was missing.
According to the statement, Mrs. Enyindah paid a quick visit to the complainant’s residence just before the kid vanished.
The infant, along with two other children, were allegedly stolen by Mrs. Enyindah and her accomplice, Amaka Ewuzie, according to the police.
The statement said that in addition to other gang members believed to be in Imo State, her arrest also resulted in the detention of Chialuka Iheanacho and her husband Chukwuma Iheanacho in Delta State.
According to the police, some of the children who were saved have been reunited with their families, while efforts are still being made to save Jasper Friday, 2, who was sold in Asaba.
