Professor Nimi Briggs, a former vice chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt and head of the Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities, has passed away.
One of his children, Ninah Nimi Briggs, spoke on behalf of the family and revealed the news of his passing in a statement.
She claims that Prof. Nimi Briggs, the former VC of Uniport, died on Easter Monday at the age of 79.
In the meantime, five days of mourning will be observed at the University of Port Harcourt in memory of the late professor, according to the management of the institution.
In remembrance of the late professor Nimi Briggs, the University of Port Harcourt has also mandated that flags flown across the campus fly at half-mast.
The Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, MDCAN, said the late professor’s life was productive and they will miss his sage advice and teachings.
Meanwhile, Tributes have continued to pour in for the late professor.
