During the handover ceremony, Chairman Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo unveiled plans to launch town hall meetings across the seventeen wards of Obio Akpor from next week, Hitvibz reports.

These meetings aim to identify local priorities and community needs directly from residents.

Ambassador Ihunwo emphasised his commitment to initiating projects that genuinely benefit the people, rather than undertaking projects for the sake of it.

State Commissioner for Power, Prince Solomon Eke, encouraged the committee members to strive for the advancement of the local government and its residents.

Sam Anya, a prominent leader among non-indigenous residents in Rivers State, praised Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo for his leadership since assuming office, commending him for the positive impact on committee members’ lives.

Several committee members expressed gratitude for the chairman’s generosity during the event.

Attendees included family members of beneficiaries and a visibly moved Secretary of the Council, Sophia Amarachi Nkoro, who tearfully expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the Chairman’s kindness.
